The flooring is hardwood also i do not have central air heat.
Removed carpet now door is too short.
A couple of plinth blocks will take up the slack.
That or replace the whole door and trim.

The door jamb and molding are now too short.
My question can the jamb somehow be repaired.
Sometimes carpenters can fill that space in with wood and since its painted it would hide the fact that its a sliver of wood down there.
With wood filler that can be sanded and painted perhaps.
I had the same problem on a few doors when i had the carpeting removed and laminate installed.

Hi folks after removing my old wall to wall carpeting i have a three doors in my house with a gap at the ground ranging from 1 to 2.
Door jamb molding i m pretty sure i am going to replace the molding anyways to a more modern style.
Matthews straight away and they said i ll have to get the door shaved i am reluctant to do this as it s a really old door.

Fix them with the wood door extender.
Prior the carpet was plusher and made the gap in this one door jamb less obvious.
They are even made from recycled woods.

These decorative square wood blocks often found in older homes are used at the corners and bottom of wood trim.
Doors are made 80 inches long.
If you remove old carpeting or a built up floor and now the door trim is a bit too short don t fret.
Cut the filler piece so it is the same width as the door.
Obviously the casing trim was way too short to begin with but the carpet and pad hid that fact.
Cut the filler piece 1 2 to 1 inch shorter than the gap between the floor and door with a wood or circular saw.
